Valerie "Abuela" Marquez is the lovely grandmother of Dora, Guillermo, Isabella, Alicia, Daisy and Diego. She is the mother of Cole and Nico and the mother-in-law of Elena and Sabrina. She was voiced by Socorro Santiago until Season 5, and currently by K.J. Sanchez. She got married to Ryan Marquez, who passed away prior to the series..
Personality[]
Abuela is a kind and caring grandmother. She is really good at cooking chocolate cake. She would often give Dora gifts. For example, she gave her a star pocket in one episode. Despite her caring nature, she is also shown to be very strict and easily irritated towards those who are less intelligent (ex. Boots or Cole). She also favors her son Nico over Cole, whom she sees as a nuisance.
Appearance[]
Abuela has gray hair, has peach skin and wears a yellow dress. Her eyes are brown with black pupils and is seen wearing pink slippers. When cooking, she wears a pink apron with this outfit. Her natural hair color is brown.
Abuela's outfit in the Virtual Paradise consists of a strapless, pink and yellow striped dress with pink flats.
In Dora and Friends, the Live-Action film, and Senior Year, Abuela wears a pink short-sleeved dress with yellow frilly trim, a light pink belt, and pink Mary-Jane shoes with yellow soles and straps. He hair is now in a bun.
